This was the second model of Spring Dulcimer built in 2015. It was my first attempt at trying to build a Spring Dulcimer on my own. It was designed with a slanted shape to accommodate a different tuning scheme and to be more ergonomic when used with the Spring Pan Kit. The tuning scheme uses 24 springs, 8 large, 8 medium and 8 small. Unlike the SD-1 they are arranged chromatically with the 8 large springs at the bottom, 8 medium in the middle and 8 small on top. It had many advantages over its predecessor but I felt it was lacking in sound quality. I have attempted to rectify this with SD-3 (coming soon).
